Materials Coordinator [Canada]

Job Purpose

Reporting to the MP&L Manager, and working as a key member of the Materials Department, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that a complete and world-class level of materials / logistics and customer services are executed at the plant.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work to provide support to the materials department, with the following responsibilities.


  • Assume responsibility for vendors and suppliers, ensuring timely delivery of materials and components to support production. Follow up on and resolve vendor issues as required.
  • Prepare weekly production schedule and distribute to the production department, ensuring customer delivery timelines are met.
  • Track inventory and ensure inventory accuracy, meeting financial and KPI requirements.
  • Coordinate cycle counting activities, ensuring inventory accuracy. Update inventory in SAP as required.
  • Responsible for facility receiving, enter receivers in SAP to reflect delivery.
  • Assist with the planning, implementation and maintenance of materials 5S and Kanban systems.
  • Complete all other duties, as required.

Core Competencies

  • Completion of a related college and/or university program in materials or business.
  • Completion of CPIM or in progress.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in materials, scheduling or production planning.
  • Previous experience in an SAP environment, preferably acting as the subject matter expert.

Job Requirements

  • Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office including MS Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
  • Excellent communications skills both verbally and electronically to permit effective interaction with all levels of Dana and external vendors, customers and suppliers.
  • Must be able to perform all job functions while adhering to Dana's environmental, health and safety standards.
  • Meet the company performance standards for the job.
  • Must be able to work the scheduled / assigned times and required overtime for the position. This position is on-site and on the Day shift.
  • Self-directed and motivated, with excellent organizational skills, and ability to keep calm in stressful situations.
